SDG 3: Good Health

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
38 million people are living with HIV worldwide.
2 billion people experience financial hardship due to health expenses.
5 million children under age five die each year from preventable causes.

Key Targets

  • End preventable deaths of newborns and children.
  • Fight communicable diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria.
  • Reduce premature deaths from non-communicable diseases.
  • Promote mental health and well-being.
  • Prevent and treat substance abuse.
  • Reduce deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents.
  • Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health care.

Global Progress

Progress on SDG 3 shows improvement in survival rates but major gaps remain. Infectious and chronic diseases strain health systems, especially where resources are limited. Many people still lack essential services. Advances in vaccines and health coverage help, but stronger infrastructure and wider access are needed to maintain progress.
