Key Targets

  • End hunger and ensure access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food.
  • End all forms of malnutrition.
  • Double agricultural productivity and incomes of small scale farmers.
  • Ensure sustainable food production systems and climate resilient agriculture.
  • Maintain genetic diversity of seeds, plants, and animals.
  • Increase investment in rural infrastructure, technology, and research.
  • Reduce trade restrictions and market distortions in global agriculture.
  • Strengthen capacity for early warning and risk reduction in food systems.

Global Progress

Progress on SDG 2 has slowed. Hunger is rising due to conflict, climate change, high prices, and weak food systems. Malnutrition remains widespread, especially in low income regions. Some countries expanded support for farmers and school meals, but stronger food systems and investment are needed to restore progress.
