Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

Controlling energy flow

From the move to renewables to the boom in energy-hungry data centers, today’s electricity demands are complex and increasing. Ingrid offers a sustainable, smart, and cost-effective solution: adapting existing power grids to make them fit for a new era.

“At Ingrid, we’re building two layers of this new ‘nervous system’, deploying batteries and other assets into the power system, where minutes of flexibility can unlock hours of stability,” says Ingrid co-founder John Hunter. “Our software and trading algorithms let production, grids, and consumption move as one.”

Ingrid’s intelligent grids store and deliver clean energy where and when it is needed. And this has put the young company at the heart of powering green energy across Europe.

Intelligence by design

Ingrid was founded in 2022 and is headquartered in Stockholm. Its workforce of around 70 includes the expertise of 16 nationalities – engineers, operators, and analysts who develop and operate myriad tools for grid optimization, including digital intelligence, physical infrastructure, advanced forecasting, and renewables storage.

The company’s mission is to build the infrastructure and software for an intelligent grid that spans Europe. To achieve this, Ingrid is unlocking the untapped potential of its clients’ assets, enabling stable clean electricity production and cheaper costs while targeting climate goals, at local and national levels.

Strategy for growth

In 2025, Ingrid started collaborating with Varbergsortens Elnät, operator of a local electricity grid in the Swedish municipality of Varberg, to help reduce up to 90% of new capacity needs and save millions of euros annually. Here, Ingrid will utilize its battery energy storage system alongside its AI optimized peak shaving, which predicts and reduces peak energy use in real time – a key aspect of an intelligent grid.

Further afield, Ingrid has partnered with renewables developer Energiequelle to deliver battery energy storage systems to grids across Germany. Alongside offering financial and operational assistance of assets, Ingrid will apply its trading and optimization platform, giving real-time data to improve decisions and address challenges in the power grid. Similar projects are in the pipeline for France and Spain.

What does a sustainable future look like?

Ingrid’s work is focused on SDG 7, which aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. In designing and operating the systems that enable existing grids to adapt, Ingrid is not only supporting Europe’s green energy transition but also accelerating it.

“We are building the tools that let the grid store Tuesday’s wind for Thursday’s factories; software that helps thousands of assets co-ordinate themselves; systems that make complexity invisible,” says Hunter. “The more complex the system becomes, the simpler it should feel. That is our piece of the puzzle.”
