Archrock is a leading provider of natural gas compression services in the US. Archrock is investing in cutting-edge tools and systems that reduce wasteful, polluting emissions, while creating a more efficient and safe operating environment.
To meet growing demands for energy and offer genuine sustainability to its partners, Archrock works to exceed the requirements of regulatory compliance. The delivery of a stronger bottom line is based on a more efficient natural gas compression system.
“At Archrock, every molecule matters, because our stakeholders want reduced emissions, improved efficiency, and heightened safety, while maximizing uptime and return on investment,” says Archrock CEO Brad Childers.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Archrock employs around 1,300 people and operates in every major oil and gas producing region in the US. Its story encompasses more than seven decades of compression services and support in the natural gas sector.
The company’s aim to maximize uptime for all its customers is founded on a robust network of highly trained teams who respond to the unique geographical and environmental challenges in which gas is compressed.
Archrock has been partnering with companies on devices to help to avoid shutdowns, unnecessary repairs, lost horsepower, and lost revenue. Importantly, the technologies optimize value for customers by delivering reduced emissions.
“We’ve been investing in innovative technologies and companies bringing market-impacting technologies focused on attacking the primary sources of emissions in compression – methane from leaks, blowdowns and rod packings, and post-combustion emissions like volatile organic compounds and carbon dioxide,” says Childers.
The compact Ecotec monitoring devices, the GAZOSCAN and the GAZOSCAN MINI, are easy to use, built for daily field use, and handheld. The technology takes a proven, tunable diode laser-based technology and puts it into an affordable package, making it more portable, precise, cost-effective and easier to use than other technologies.
Carbon Hawk captures fugitive methane emissions from the blowdown and compressor rod packings of natural gas compressor systems. As the emissions are caught at source, it minimizes environmental impact. The Coldstream Energy MaCH4 NGL (Natural Gas Liquids) Recovery Solution, meanwhile, uses a patented, Pressure Swing Adsorption technology for high-efficiency NGL Recovery for natural gas-fired engines at compressor stations, which increases the runtime and efficiency of the gas-fired engines that drive compressor stations.

Archrock’s mission to power a cleaner America aligns with SDG 7, which aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.
As part of this vision, the company has invested in Ionada, a global carbon capture company with experience in developing emissions reduction technology. Its carbon capture systems reduce emissions through hollow fiber membranes. Archrock is funding a pilot project to apply this technology to carbon capture in the natural gas compression sector.
By enabling cleaner energy, the company is unlocking the potential to “build communities that are not only more prosperous and rewarding, but also more sustainable,” says Childers.
In 2024, Archrock achieved measurable reductions in greenhouse gas intensity – a 7% drop in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity, and a 6% reduction in Scope 3 emissions per operating horsepower compared with the previous year.
