Event Overview
In Ghana, the Ghana Institution of Engineers will commence the World Engineering Day celebrations with visits to selected secondary schools in parts of Accra. These engagements are designed to inspire and motivate students to develop a strong interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and to consider engineering-related programmes at the tertiary level as viable and impactful career paths.
Through interactive sessions, mentorship conversations, and practical insights shared by professional engineers, students will be exposed to the real-world applications of engineering and its critical role in solving societal challenges and driving national development.
The celebrations will culminate in a “Know Your Engineer” sensitization walk along selected principal streets of Accra, creating a platform for engineers to engage directly with the public, raise awareness about the engineering profession, and highlight its contributions to infrastructure development, industrial growth, innovation, and sustainable development. This will be complemented by targeted media engagements across radio, television, and digital platforms to further educate the public and reinforce the indispensable role engineers play in shaping Ghana’s future.
