The Ordem dos Engenheiros – North region (Portuguese Association of Engineers) launched a new Engineering discovery initiative that aims to stimulate and (re)discover in young people the stimulus and practical sense for engineering. It is a ‘hands-on’ playful-pedagogical activity based on a STEAM learning tool.

Through this new creative tool, critical thinking, data analysis, and developing prototypes are practices to solve complex problems relevant to the real world.

These careful experiences brought by Engineers, have in view to showcase all the engineering specialties and how they are replicated in society and our day-to-day life, allowing the study of mathematics, physics, informatics, electronics, and robotics, without forgetting social and organizational skills….

… While playing, engineering is also created.

The activity proposes that children and young people from elementary and secondary education, work on simple but fundamental processes of engineering, acquire interest and feel motivated to exact sciences. It is also focused on leveraging and developing engineering knowledge, through observation, participation, and contribution in a proactive way related to living and lifestyle.

In this STEAM experience, interaction combines skills in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, to foster interest in mathematics and physics, as well as trigger practical knowledge in engineering in young people through the construction of prototypes, combining logical-abstract reasoning with the know-how to do so.

So, the question is: There is Engineering in me, How about you?
