Building back wiser – demonstrating value
Engineering solutions need to consider environmental impact in equal measure to the traditional drivers of quality, cost and time. These solutions need to clearly demonstrate value.
In order to truly ‘build back wiser’, to adapt and transition, engineers also need to demonstrate value. Value for investors in terms of economic and financial returns, tangible environmental and social impact and sound climate risk management. They need to think holistically and go beyond the traditional drivers of engineering outcomes – quality, cost, time – to include environmental, social, and humanitarian impacts.
