The Stamps and Philatelic Products for the first World Engineering Day are Issued!

To celebrate the first World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development (WED) and in commemoration of this historic moment, the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and China Post Group Corporation Limited cooperate to design and issue a series of stamps and philatelic products for the first World Engineering Day, which include a set of 12 stamps ,a first day cover, a souvenir sheet, a postcard and a stamp album. All these philatelic products are global limited edition.
Introduction

There are 12 stamps in this personalized stamp album. The main image of stamps is the Great Wall of China and WED LOGOs in six United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) official languages (Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish and Arabic) are on the right side. The Great Wall is a masterpiece and great wonder in world engineering history and is hailed as “Architecture that can be seen from space.” Looking back at the development of engineering, it is such courage and willpower that drive people constantly to make breakthrough in engineering. The attached pictures are WED LOGOs in six U.N official languages which show that the World Engineering Day is a global day proclaimed by UNESCO and this day is a global celebration connecting people from different countries and areas to raise public awareness of the role of engineering technology in improving human life and promoting sustainable development as well as to build consensus on the future development of engineering.

Souvenir Sheet
This part includes a souvenir sheet, background image, and text introduction. The central image is “March 4th”, data of the celebration and the founding day of WFEO. At the top left of the souvenir sheet is the LOGO of WFEO and this “tree of engineering” is also used as the background image in this part. Besides, there are several elements representing different kinds of engineering here. For example, gears and cranes are the symbols of manufacturing and construction in the traditional industry. The circle of binary coding composed by number zero and one in the background represents the field of new engineering technology like computer and artificial intelligence (AI). At the bottom of the souvenir sheet is the brief introduction of WFEO.

Commemorative Envelope
Engineer, the earth, mountain and river are the major design elements of the commemorative envelope. On the one hand, these elements show the importance of engineers and engineering in world development and sustainable development. On the other hand, it is a good wish to realize the harmony between humans and nature. The cachet with time, site of the ceremony and other information is at the right bottom.

Postcard
The design of the postcard comes from an excellent work in the first WED Design Contest. The whole picture is composed with 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and every small gridding represents one of them. Such composition perfectly corresponds with the theme of WED. From an overall perspective, the planet looks similar to WED LOGO. At the top left of the postcard is the word-art of “WED” with the theme color of 17 SDGs. This sphere like a bright lighthouse in the endless universe, which guides the way for our earth and demonstrates the significance of WED to all dwellers on the earth. The whole postcard expresses a strong sense of structure and the future, emphasizes the importance of engineering to our society.

Souvenir Folder
The design of the souvenir folder is simple but international. With blue and white as the dominant hue, this folder follows the design concept of “recognize the whole through observation of the part” to reach a quadratic and flat style. At the bottom of the cover, there is a bond of two shades of blue which connects the world and stretches towards the future. In this folder, there are personalized stamps, the first day cover, souvenir sheet, postcard, and other products.
